GLASS FUSING MOSAICS

GLASS FUSING MOSAICS
Sunday 31st August
Tutor: Shirley Eccles
LAST FEW REMAINING
10:00 - 16:00
This is an exciting and adventurous workshop where you’ll be able to learn about the various techniques involved in glass fusing and slumping. We will make two items during the day, details of each project are listed below. This course is project based and will give you the opportunity to experiment with a variety of fusing ideas and glass materials.
Project 1: Op Art. Inspired by the art style of the 1960s you will learn how to create optical illusions in your glass. We will create an illusion of movement like swelling or warping within the glass. Different colour combinations and patterns can be considered to create a very unique piece of glass art.
Project 2: Glass Fused Mosaic. Design a picture by inlaying small pieces of glass and then grouting it with glass powders to create an intricate and colourful glass ‘painting’. Your glass mosaic will be fused together. You can either create a small wall hanging or a shallow slumped platter which will involve a second firing.
